our side hustle

So we’re doin’ a thing. Maybe you’ve seen something on the socials, read something in the paper or heard a rumor or two. Regardless...we wanted to take a minute to bring you up to speed and set the record straight.

We’ve been doing the wine thing for more than a decade now...and it’s been a complete blast. Seriously, there’s nothing about the past ten years that we’d change. The fact that we’ve been able to do what we love – and develop some pretty incredible friendships along the way – is just plain humbling. That’s why we’re still doin’ the wine thing...and don’t see that changing anytime soon!

Now that doesn’t mean it’s business as usual around here. Our experiences over the past couple years forced us to look at what we do (and how we do it) in a very different way. And as shitty as some of those experiences were (like being closed for nearly six- months), they helped re-center us on why we started this whole thing in the first place.

We started riaza for three fundamental reasons: 1) we wanted to do something that we loved; 2) we wanted to share that passion with others; and 3) we didn’t want to have any regrets. That same philosophy serves as the foundation for what comes next.

That’s why we’re super stoked to let you know that riaza will now be known for wine – and beer. Yup...we’re adding beer to the mix. For those of you who know us well, that probably doesn’t come as a big surprise. We’ve been toying with the idea for years now and finally decided it was time to pull the trigger (see #3 above...).

You – no doubt – have questions. Here are some answers. No...we are not closing the winery. Yes...we have a name for our little side hustle (Side Hustle Brew Co). Yes...we will be making our own beer. No...we can’t tell you exactly what we’ll be brewing (just yet).’ll be able to get wine and beer under the same roof. Yes...we still have a wine club (though it has changed a bit). Yes...we will have a beer club (deets here). Yes...we’ll still do a ton of food-related gigs (because why the hell not). Yes...we'll probably be tweaking our hours a bit (mostly to stay open a lil' later). And lastly...yes...we will continue to deliver the same kick-ass experience that makes us who we are.

There’s a lot to unpack here - to be sure. For some folks...this might feel a little strange. You’ve always known us as a winery. The good news is that hasn’t changed. We’re still a winery – just one that happens to make beer too. Here’s the deal. We’re doing this because it makes sense for us. Some of you will be excited...some of you might be a little bummed. We can’t change how this makes you feel. All we can do is try to explain the "why" and hope that people get it. Besides...everyone needs a side hustle...
